Changes on the way and ‘Crazy’ video

Hello friends:

So I’ve decided to redesign my website, which is going to take some time. So that means you probably won’t see many (any?) website updates here for a few weeks. If you have any suggestions for things I can do with the new website, by all means, give me holler in the comments field, through email or on Twitter.

OK, OK, I missed another weekly update last week. While my goal is to update the site once a week, some exceptions are bound to occur here and there. As you can imagine, life has been a little crazy since baby Josephine entered our lives. I think during one stretch last week, I went about four straight days without having time to even turn on my computer.

Anyway, enough excuses. Here’s this week’s update: Video of the band playing “Welcome Mat” at Carrollton Station in New Orleans in May 2009. As you may know, “Welcome Mat” appeared on “Public School, Fast Food and Blue Jeans” as a very stripped-down song — acoustic guitar, bass and hand-clapping. A couple of years ago, we decided to experiment by adding some electric guitar and drums to it. This was the result:

Spotify and other news

Hey, if you’re into the whole Spotify thing, you can now check out “Public School, Fast Food and Blue Jeans” there. I know, new music is long, long, long, long overdue. I have indeed been recording here and there and GUARANTEE that I will release something in 2012. I would be done sooner, but my wife and I are having a baby any day now, so things will be a little crazy for a while. I’m also still trying to figure out how to tackle some of these new songs — are they better with full instrumentation, or solo acoustic? Also, should I release a full-length CD or maybe a six-song EP is the best route this time around? And do I have another song or two inside me that is begging to come to the surface? (I’m not asking you; these are just some of the questions that have been going through my head lately.)

Anyway, for this week’s audio/video update, here’s “Lost My Nerve” from “Public School, Fast Food and Blue Jeans.” It’s a song I sometimes sing in front of strangers about how shy I am. Do you smell the irony?

OK, so my goal is to post something new on the site every week, but I already missed last week. Sue me! (Wait, no, don’t!) I’m going to rephrase my goal here: I will TRY MY BEST to post some audio or video each week. So please keep checking back regularly.
